In a joint letter addressed to Administrator Brooks-LaSure of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), ADvancing States, alongside other national associations representing Medicaid Directors and leaders of Medicaid home- and community-based services waiver operating agencies, have collectively requested a 30-day extension for the comment periods associated with two recently released Notices of Proposed Rulemaking. Specifically, the request refers to the Notices on access to care in Medicaid and CHIP [CMS-2442-P] and Medicaid and CHIP managed care finance, access, and quality [CMS-2439-P]. The associations express concerns about the limited agency bandwidth due to ongoing Medicaid renewals, COVID-19 responses, and management of American Rescue Plan investments, which limit their ability to thoroughly analyze and provide constructive feedback by the current July 3 deadline.
