Applied Self Direction's next session in their Virtual Conference Series will be held on May, 2021. Lynn Breedlove will discuss how self-direction is working around the world including how other countries perceive the underlying values of self-direction and their impetus for creating self-direction programs. The session will examine the supports available in other countries to help people be successful in self-direction and discuss whether any of these support strategies would be “value-added” for self-direction in the U.S.

This webinar will share highlights from a new NASHP report, Paying Family Caregivers through Medicaid Consumer-Directed Programs: State Opportunities and Innovations, that explores states’ approaches to consumer-directed programs supporting older adults and people with physical disabilities. During the webinar, state officials from Virginia and Connecticut will describe how they have developed consumer direction programs that support older adults and people with physical disabilities and their family caregivers. 
 

Diabetes Care Assessment, Planning, And Management During COVID-19

This webinar will address how care management for individuals with diabetes has adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will feature speakers sharing how they used telehealth to provide education and support. These speakers will describe the best practices they discovered in connecting people with housing, food, medication, and more. The event will also include a speaker with diabetes who will share their experiences during the pandemic.

During the event, the FCC will discuss the materials developed for their partners’ use in conducting outreach and education about the program.
