The Administrator of CMS, Chiquita Brooks-LaSure will provide updates on CMS' accomplishments and progress towards advancing CMS' strategic plan. An Overview of CMS's New Phase 3 Nursing Home Guidance

Event Description: 
Consumer Voice and representatives from CMS will be providing an overview of CMS's new Phase 3 guidance for nursing homes. The new guidance was released on June 29, 2022, and is the result of CMS's 2016 revisions to the Medicare Requirements for Participation for Nursing Homes. The guidance is required to be followed by state oversight agencies when surveying and assessing nursing home compliance with the federal regulations.

Legal assistance, elder rights, and aging services providers can play a role to help those with disabilities caused by long COVID.

"How can I assist you?” Reasonable Modification to Policy Considerations

In recognition of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Anniversary, this session will provide an overview of the reasonable modification rule of U.S. DOT. This rule helps clarify and guide providers to ensure that people with disabilities have opportunities to use accessible transportation and to be connected to their communities. A crucial element for providing quality accessible transportation is to have a clear and formalized process in place for handling reasonable modification requests by customers.
