The Administrator of CMS, Chiquita Brooks-LaSure will provide updates on CMS' accomplishments and progress towards advancing CMS' strategic plan. The call will also include information on how stakeholders can partner with CMS to implement key initiatives. Other members of the CMS leadership team as well as the CMS Principal Deputy Administrator and Chief Operating Officer, Jon Blum, will also speak on the call.

 

The call will be held on Tuesday, July 19 from 1:00 p.m. ET to 2:00 p.m. ET.

 

Consumer Voice and representatives from CMS will be providing an overview of CMS's new Phase 3 guidance for nursing homes. The new guidance was released on June 29, 2022, and is the result of CMS's 2016 revisions to the Medicare Requirements for Participation for Nursing Homes. The guidance is required to be followed by state oversight agencies when surveying and assessing nursing home compliance with the federal regulations.

Speakers from Missouri and Indiana will share initiatives taking place in their state. The webinar will include information on a direct support professional apprentice program, a value based purchasing model for training direct support professionals, and a direct service worker Advisory Board.

In recognition of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) Anniversary, this session will provide an overview of the reasonable modification rule of U.S. DOT. This rule helps clarify and guide providers to ensure that people with disabilities have opportunities to use accessible transportation and to be connected to their communities. A crucial element for providing quality accessible transportation is to have a clear and formalized process in place for handling reasonable modification requests by customers.

ACL’s Office of Nutrition and Health Promotion Programs (ONHPP) is hosting a webinar on combating food insecurity with collaboration. Participants will learn how food insecurity affects older adults, how federal programs, including ACL’s National Senior Nutrition Program, are addressing food insecurity in communities, and how to engage potential collaborators among community stakeholders to improve food access among older adults.
