The Rehab Act at 50 Years Part 2: Our Future - Youth and Young Adult Engagement & Involvement in Disability Advocacy

An ACL jointly funded NIDILRR and AoD grantee will share key aspects of this research including efforts being made to support youth and young adults with disabilities from marginalized communities to be engaged with CILs. The panel will consist of CIL staff supporting young leaders and young leaders who will share about their experiences

The Rehab Act at 50 Years Part 1: Origins, Evolution, & Current Day

Event Description: 

A critical moment for the disability community was the passage and eventual implementation of the Rehab Act. This webinar will include key leaders who participated in the drafting of the Rehab Act to the implementation of it. Speakers will share individual stories and insights on the passage and implementation of the Act and its implementing regulations, the advocacy that helped make it happen, the law’s impact to the disability community and greater society, and lessons learned.

National Senior Center Month

Event Description: 

National Senior Center Month, organized by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) in partnership with the Administration for Community Living (ACL), celebrates the vital role of senior centers in the lives of older adults. With over 11,000 senior centers serving more than one million older Americans daily, these centers serve as community focal points, connecting seniors with essential services.

Joint Meeting of RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council & Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) invites participation in a virtual joint meeting of the RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council (FCAC) and the Advisory Council to Support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (SGRG). This virtual meeting will focus on analyzing public comments on the 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers and will provide updates from federal agencies on the progress of implementing this strategy. Registration is not required, and the meeting will offer ASL interpretation and closed captioning for accessibility.

Webinar - Overview of ACL’s proposed APS regulations

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is seeking public input on a proposed rule to establish the first-ever federal regulations for adult protective services (APS) programs. Stakeholders are invited to attend an informational webinar with ACL on September 18, where the proposed rule will be overviewed, and the process for submitting comments explained.

Community-Based Vaccinations: The Aging and Disability Networks in Action

Event Description: 

In recognition of Immunization Awareness Month, join The Administration for Community Living (ACL)  for "Community-Based Vaccinations: The Aging and Disability Networks in Action." This webinar will highlight the work of two ACL-funded national initiatives to increase access to flu and COVID-19 vaccinations for older adults and people with disabilities. Attendees will learn about successful community-based partnerships that can provide a model for immunization outreach.

Event Description: 

The Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR) is hosting a lunch & learn in July to discuss health care in Medicare Advantage (MA) associated with dual eligibility or eligibility for a low-income subsidy and disability. Presenters will discuss insights from a report on the performance of Medicare Advantage (MA) plans, specifically measures of quality of health care on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health.

Webinar: Proposed updates to ACL’s Older Americans Act regulations

Event Description: 

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) is inviting input on its proposed updates to the regulations governing the Older Americans Act (OAA) program. The proposed rule addresses various emerging issues and seeks to provide clarity on requirements for programs authorized under Titles III (grants to state and community programs on aging), VI (grants to Indian tribes and Native Hawaiian grantees for supportive, nutrition, and caregiver services), and VII (allotments for vulnerable elder rights protection activities) of the OAA.

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week

Event Description: 

Medicare Fraud Prevention Week (MFPW) is June 5th through 11th. Medicare loses an estimated $60 billion each year due to fraud, errors, and abuse. ACL and its Senior Medicare Patrol Resource Center lead the nation's annual MFPW observance, raising awareness of actions everyone can take to help prevent, detect, and report Medicare fraud.
