Approximately 1% of all Medicare enrollees qualify for Medicare solely because they have End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). ESRD Medicare is a separate benefit from age- and disability-related Medicare, and individuals with ESRD Medicare have specific rules about coverage and coordination of benefits.
