The National Association of State Head Injury Administrators is establishing a Community of Practice (CoP) focused on state implementation of the Medicaid 1115 Reentry Demonstration Waivers to support people with brain injury.
The focus of the Community of Practice will be for states and their advocacy partners to work towards inclusion of brain injury screening prior to reentry, training on brain injury for case managers to equip them with compensatory strategies to improve outcomes for people with brain injury, and referral to evidence-based interventions upon reentry (such as brain injury resource facilitation) for those who have long-term challenges as a result of a brain injury.
Inclusion of screening and brain injury resource facilitation as services covered by the Demonstration waiver will lead to greater health and safety in community living and increased community integration outcomes.
Applications are due by February 28, 2025.
