Medicare Sustainability Policy Series

The Medicare Rights Center released a new set of educational resources aimed at helping individuals better understand the policies governing Medicare funding and spending. The three-part policy series explains the history of Medicare financing, explores current challenges in Medicare spending, and calls for specific policy improvements to sustain the program into the future. The first part of the series, “Medicare Financing: Shifting the Focus to Sustainability in Addition to Solvency,” explains the origin and structure of Medicare financing. The issue brief, infographic, and video outline the various funding sources for the three major parts of Medicare and lay out how projections and costs have fluctuated over the program’s history. Resources on Medicare Advantage and Medicare site neutrality will be released in the near future.
