Workplace Accommodations: Low Cost, High Impact

This report from the Job Accommodation Network (JAN) analyzes the benefits and costs of workplace accommodations. JAN publishes this annual report using data from a survey they conduct with employers who contact them for specific information about workplace accommodations and/or the ADA. This year's results show that the majority of accommodations, 59 percent, were cost-free, while the typical cost of other accommodations was $500.

Report for Washington Health Home Managed Fee-for-Service (MFFS): Final Demonstration Year 2 and Preliminary Demonstration Year 3 Medicare Savings Estimates

This report summarizes the Medicare Parts A & B actuarial savings analysis of the Washington managed fee-for-service (MFFS) demonstration for 2015 and 2016. The Washington Health Home MFFS demonstration aims to improve service quality and integration while reducing costs of care for high-risk, high-cost dually eligible beneficiaries. For 2015, Washington demonstrated a final gross Medicare savings of $30 million. The preliminary gross Medicare savings for 2016 are $42 million.

Housing Americas Older Adults 2018

Affordable, accessible housing located in age-friendly communities is already in short supply. As the American population continues to age, demand for this housing will continue to increase. Additionally, many older adults are at risk of having insufficient resources to manage rising healthcare and housing costs in their later years and may struggle to pay for their housing and other basic necessities. This paper discuses these and other issues around housing for older Americans.

Travel Patterns of American Adults with Disabilities

This issue brief uses data from the 2017 National Household Travel Survey (NHTS) to examine the daily travel patterns of American adults with travel-limiting disabilities. It also explores data from the 2001 and 2009 NHTS to illustrate trends over time. Several groups of technologies might help people with disability-related transportation limitations, but people with disabilities use them less.

Getting To Equal: The Disability Inclusion Advantage

This report examines data from the Disability Equality Index and identifies forty-five companies with strong leadership in areas specific to disability employment and inclusion. Accenture analyzed their financial performance and found that, on average over the four-year period, these companies had twenty-eight percent higher revenue, double the net income, and thirty percent higher economic profit margins than their peers.

Has the Promise Been Kept? Federal Enforcement of Disability Rights Laws

This report assesses the degree to which the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the U.S. Access Board have addressed the recommendations issued in the 2000 NCD report, "Promises to Keep: A Decade of Federal Enforcement of the Americans with Disabilities Act". NCD also uses the framework developed in this previous report to evaluate how various agencies implement and enforce the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal disability rights laws and programs.
