NIA Launches a new Alzheimer's Website

NIA has launched a new website designed to educate and support people whose lives are touched by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Alzheimers.gov is the federal government's portal to information and resources on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, including Lewy body dementia, frontotemporal disorders, and vascular dementia. It's goal is to connect people with Alzheimer’s, caregivers and advocates to federal resources that educate and support their needs.

New Interactive State Disability Maps from Mathematica Can Help States Better Serve Residents with Disabilities

Mathematica’s Center for Studying Disability Policy recently created interactive state disability maps that reveal important patterns in state- and county-level prevalence of disability among working-age adults as well as how that prevalence compares with Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income participation rates. This information can help policymakers and program managers identify areas with the highest needs or potential benefit discrepancies.

Internet Navigation for the Visually Impaired Resource

NVISION Eye Centers have created a resource page designed to increase access to information on various methods, features, and tools that can be used to improve internet accessibility for the visually impaired. The webpage provides a practical, clear overview of assistive technology options including built-in computer tools, internet browser extensions, and phone apps. There is also a list of references provided on the webpage for independent research.

Georgia Tech Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation (CIDI) Accessible COVID-19 Resources

CIDI created a COVID-19 resource page designed to increase access to information about Coronavirus symptoms, testing and treatment. Accessible resources include braille documents available to order and digital documents designed for users accessing the page with screen readers or other assistive technology. There are ASL resources coming soon to the webpage. This project was made possible with funding from the CDC Foundation.

Elder Justice Compendium

The Elder Justice Compendium is a resource hub for civil legal aid attorneys and advocates working with older adults. The Compendium provides an overview of existing resources that are available to attorneys who are assisting victims of elder abuse. It is divided into different topic sections with a brief introduction to each subject area followed descriptions of available resources. Example topic areas include guardianship, scams, and client-centered advocacy.
