ACL’s Administration on Aging funds “Innovations in Nutrition” grants to support the quality, effectiveness, and outcomes of the nutrition programs funded through the Older Americans Act. The nutrition programs work to reduce food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition; enhance socialization; and promote the health and well-being of older adults. Evaluation of the Effect of the Older Americans Act Title III-C Nutrition Services Program on Participants’ Health Care Utilization

This report assesses the effectiveness of the Title III-C Nutrition Services Program (NSP) under the Older Americans Act. It describes the health and health care utilization of congregate meal and home-delivered meal participants. The report also examines overall wellness measured using longer-term outcomes related to health and avoidance of institutionalization.

Evaluation of the Effect of the Older Americans Act Title III-C Nutrition Services Program on Participants’ Food Security, Socialization, and Diet Quality

The 2017 evaluation of the Older Americans Act (OAA) Nutrition Program for the Elderly provides results and information on the impact of the program on the participants’ food security, socialization, and diet quality. Comparisons are drawn from the previous evaluation of the program conducted in 1995. This evaluation also serves to provide insight into areas needing further review.
