Find two fact sheets; the first presents occupational employment projections for the three job titles that make up the direct-care workforce: nursing assistants, home health aides, and personal and home care aides, and suggests that over the next decade, the nation’s direct-care workforce will constitute the largest, fastest-growing group of jobs in the country. The second provides a detailed overview of the demographic and economic characteristics of the direct-care workforce.

These forms were developed for the Personal Preference program which began as part of a national research and demonstration project whose goal was to find new ways for individuals to receive Medicaid Personal Care Assistance (PCA) services. This form was used to assess the participant’s level of functioning and potential risk reduction factors. Scaling includes questions about living arrangements, medications, communication and mobility.

JARC was established to address transportation challenges that welfare recipients and low-income individuals face in finding and keeping jobs. It is designed to serve as a reference guide to government publications. The information focuses on state-level statistics published by Federal agencies and presents some time-trend data. A glossary is provided to assist in the interpretation of the statistics.

States’ efforts to expand consumer-directed long-term care service programs, are often hindered by challenges related to costs, staffing and organizational issues, infrastructure requirements, and resistance from stakeholders. Yet states have developed a number of successful strategies for overcoming these challenges. Their experiences offer valuable insights, guidance, and encouragement to other states considering CDS.
