The Aging and Disability Business Institute in partnership with AgeSpan released their newest case study, an exploration of evidence based programs in New England to promote health and wellbeing. The report examines the multistate network of Area Agencies on Aging brought about a collaborative approach to deliver new evidence-based programs and maintaining community connection.

A new Policy Spotlight from the Aging and Disability Business Institute and the National Council on Aging provides an overview of how telehealth has changed as a result of the pandemic. The Policy Spotlight outlines the current challenges related to access to telehealth, identifies opportunities for the Aging Network and discusses legislative actions for expanding telehealth.

The Aging and Disability Business Institute has published two infographics exploring how Area Agencies on Aging and other community-based organizations address the social determinants of health of older adults and people with disabilities in their communities through contracts with health care entities. The infographics identify key partners and services in these contracts, as well as where this contracting activity is occurring around the country.

The Aging and Disability Business Institute is now accepting nominations for the The John A. Hartford Foundation 2022 Business Innovation Award. Each year, this award recognizes community-based organizations (CBOs) that have created innovative solutions to improving the well-being of older adults and people with disabilities through strategic partnerships with health care entities. The Institute is looking for nominations of CBOs that have contracts with health care entities related to advance care planning, caregiving, COVID-19 response, dementia care, and those that address health equity.

The Aging and Disability Business Institute has launched a new tool to help CBOs show their value as contracting partners to health care entities. The Evidence Bank houses a collection of research studies on common services provided by CBOs that they can use to bolster their own pitches to health care entities.

In collaboration with the Partners in Care Foundation, the Aging and Disability Business Institute has developed a Health Care Outreach Toolkit that offers customizable messages and targets for community-based organization (CBOs) to use when reaching out to potential health care partners.

This guide highlights the benefits and opportunities available for CBOs interested in providing services under Medicare FFS. It describes important considerations including billing and filing processes, culture change, and regulatory compliance. The guide also reviews how to enroll as a Medicare provider and outlines which services CBOs can offer.

This brief summarizes how recent changes to Medicare Advantage may enable AAAs and other CBOs to form new partnerships with Medicare Advantage plans. These partnerships can be used to provide supplemental benefits, such as home-delivered meals and transportation, to beneficiaries. The updated brief covers additional guidance from CMS on the Creating High-Quality Results and Outcomes Necessary to Improve Chronic (CHRONIC) Care Act.

In this presentation, the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), shared insights from its research on person-centered goals for people with complex care needs and tools for CBOs to become more effective partners with health plans, including how to effectively measure quality improvement and implement quality improvement initiatives.

This list of questions are designed to help a CBO focus on important considerations necessary to successfully offer social services as business service offerings in the payor setting.
