The U.S Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) and National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL) will be presenting a webinar on June 15 - World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) – to commemorate WEAAD 2017. This webinar will provide a detailed overview of OVW’s Enhanced Training and Services to End Abuse in Later Life grant program. This program funds communities across the country to address elder abuse through trainings, services, and a coordinated community response.

Webinar: Using BRFSS Data from the Cognitive Decline and Caregiver Modules for Action

The National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center, in partnership with the American Society on Aging, will host a webinar on using BRFSS data. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) is a nationally representative survey of states and territories in the United States. The BRFSS is used to collect data about U.S. adults regarding their health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions and use of preventive services. Results of the BRFSS have been used to develop health promotion activities across the country.

The Elder Justice Initiative (EJI) has launched their new Multidisciplinary Team Guide and Toolkit. The Toolkit is designed for anyone looking to create or grow a local elder abuse MDT. It is for any interested persons no matter what their level of experience is with MDTs. The web-based Toolkit can be used on mobile devices and contains easy-to-download PDF sample documents and citations.

P&A/CAP Annual Conference

Webinar: Banking Status and Financial Behaviors of Adults with Disabilities

Event Description: 

Results from the FDIC Household Survey shows that people with disabilities are more likely to be cycling in and out of banking, and are less likely than their non-disabled peers to reopen a checking account in the future. Additionally, almost 50 percent of adults with disabilities nationwide are unbanked or underbanked.

The National Disability Institute is hosting a webinar that will discuss their report, "Banking Status and Financial Behaviors of Adults with Disabilities: Findings from the FDIC National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households."

Webinar: State Medicaid-Housing Agency Partnerships Technical Support Opportunity for States

Event Description: 

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Medicaid Innovation Accelerator Program (IAP) is launching a new technical support opportunity for state Medicaid agencies to develop partnerships between state Medicaid agencies and their local housing systems to foster additional community living opportunities for Medicaid beneficiaries that require Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS). IAP will select up to eight states to participate in this 9-month opportunity.
