The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is hiring a new Deputy Director of Long-Term Services and Support (LTSS). The Deputy Director oversees the coordination and oversight in the delivery of health care services across various LTSS program areas. This position plays a key role in developing strategy, managing program areas, and contributing to the critical decisions around the future of Medicaid. 

This Deputy Director role is a direct report to the Chief Clinical Officer working closely with all members of leadership, employees, and key stakeholders both internal and external to the Department of Health Benefits, which manages and oversees North Carolina Medicaid and other programs that provide access to services and supports for parents, children, seniors, people with intellectual / developmental disabilities, and behavioral health, substance use and traumatic brain injury disorders.

Qualifications include:

Education:

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration or in a field related to DHHS programs, and five years of managerial and/or administrative experience in the public or private sectors involving significant decision-making authority in the planning, organizing, and directing in an area related to the above-mentioned programs; OR
  • an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Experience:

  • Analyzing and implementing National or State Health Policy for Medicaid programs
  • Either as a direct health care provider, a manager in a healthcare system, or a manager in a healthcare-related governmental operation
  • Designing and implementing program and organizational improvement initiatives
