Direct Service Workforce Activities of the Systems Change Grantees

Of the Real Choice Systems Change grantees awarded funding under CMS’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2001 solicitation, 20 have one or more initiatives to improve the recruitment and retention of direct service workers. This report focuses on the workforce initiatives of these 20 Grantees, with an in-depth look at 7 Grantees (AR [2 grants], KY, MT, NH, NC, VT, with whom RTI conducted site visits).

Cultural Competency in Working with Latino Family Caregivers

Outlines the challenges facing service providers in addressing the needs of Latino caregivers. This monograph uses case studies to illustrate how specific cultural characteristics, such as language, customs and religion, can impact caregiving situations, and offers suggestions on ways cultural competency can be improved at organizational and policy levels. Navigating the Care System: A Guide for Providers to Help Family Caregivers

Vermont Work Incentives Initiative Website

The Vermont Work Incentives Initiative is comprised of several interconnected grant projects that fund direct services to clients, research, and systems change efforts focused on improving employment outcomes and independence for people with disabilities. The web site prvides a wide array of resources on several topics, including benefits counseling, medicaid buy-in program, personal assistance services and other employment supports. A Profile Of Medicaid Institutional And Community-Based Long-Term Care Service Use And Expenditures Among The Aged And Disabled Using Max 2002

How can person-level data in the Medicaid Analytic eXtract (MAX) data system be used to better understand Medicaid long-term care service use and expenditures? In the analysis, the authors: compare expenditure and utilization-based measures of the balance of institutional and community-based LTC services; examine Medicaid LTC expenditures and utilization for two key groups of enrollees; decompose community-based LTC service expenditures by type of service; and summarize other Medicaid services.
