Final Report of System and Impact Research and Technical Assistance for CMS FY2005, FY2006, and FY2007 RCSC Grants

This fourth and final report for the national evaluation of the FY05, 06, and 07 Real Choice Systems Change (RCSC) Grants presents findings for both FY05 and FY06 Systems Transformation (ST) grantees. The findings address how grant efforts progressed between initial and final implementation periods and whether those efforts resulted in the achievement of grant outcomes and ultimately transformation of state systems.

Annual Report of System and Impact Research and Technical Assistance for CMS FY2005, FY2006, and FY2007 RCSC Grants

Third Annual Report builds on findings from the first two Annual Reports and focuses on the progress grantees made during the 2008-2009 grant period, representing slightly different stages of implementation for the FY05 grantees (Year 4) and the FY06 grantees (Year 3). Across grantees, data on outcomes during 2008-2009 grant period remained limited and changes in system infrastructure continue to be difficult to assess at this time.

Valuing the Invaluable: 2011 Update - The Growing Contributions and Costs of Family Caregiving

The estimated economic value of family caregivers’ unpaid contributions contribution was approximately $450 billion in 2009. If family caregivers were no longer available, the economic cost to the U.S. health care and long-term services and supports systems would increase astronomically. This report updates national and individual state estimates of the economic value of family care using the most current available data, and provides recommendations for taking care of the caregivers.

Independence, Dignity and Choice in Long-Term Care Act 2010 Annual Report – New Jersey

NJ’s charge to advance a Medicaid LTC system where there would be more options for community care, greater consumer choice and allowance for maximum flexibility between nursing homes and HCBS is “definitely showing positive trend lines” according to this report. Dual Eligibles: Medicaid Enrollment and Spending for Medicare Beneficiaries in 2007

This report provides the latest national and state data on enrollment and spending for individuals enrolled in both Medicaid and Medicare, also known as dual eligibles. There were about 8.9 million dual eligibles in 2007. Dual eligibles are among the sickest and poorest individuals covered by either program. Although they comprised 15% of Medicaid enrollment, dual eligibles accounted for 39% ($121 billion) of Medicaid spending for medical services & for more than a quarter of Medicare spending.

Disability Benefits 101 (DB 101) – Online Resource

DB101 provides online tools, resources and information on health coverage, work and benefits for people with disabilities and those supporting them. Four states (California, Minnesota, Michigan and New Jersey) have their own sites, which include benefits calculators to help individuals understand how a job may affect total income and health coverage, or whether they may qualify for specific state programs. The resource is a product of the Employment and Disability Benefits Initiative.
