Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Final Rules

On Friday, August 19, 2016, the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor published the final rules implementing the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) in the Federal Register. WIOA legislation is designed to strengthen and improve the public workforce system and help Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, move into high-quality jobs and careers as well as help employers hire and retain skilled workers.

Summary of the Final Rules Implementing Titles I and IV of WIOA, from a Disability Perspective

The National Center on Leadership for the Employment and Economic Advancement of People with Disabilities (LEAD) published two policy briefs to provide a summary description from a disability perspective on the Final Rules implementing Title I (Workforce Development Systems) and Title IV (State Vocational Rehabilitation) of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). These policy briefs highlight important requirements and activities that will impact individuals with disabilities.

Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Regulations Release

On Thursday, June 30, 2016, the U.S. Departments of Labor and Education have announced the advanced posting of five rules implementing Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA legislation is designed to strengthen and improve the public workforce system and help get Americans, including youth and those with significant barriers to employment, into high-quality jobs and careers and help employers hire and retain skilled workers.

National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research

On Wednesday, May 11, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) published a final rule that implements the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 transfer of the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR) from the Department of Education to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The final regulations will remain in effect until Friday, July 1, 2016.
