Supporting Transitions for EPSDT Eligible Children in Foster Care with Emotionally Based Problems in the District of Columbia

The focus of this grant is youth in the child welfare system ages 15–21 years with significant emotionally based problems. The goal to ensure that the “aging out” foster youth, transition into adult support and services smoothly and appropriately - focusing on the youth’s choice of living environment, provider of service, and quality care. The project was funded Sept. 2004-Sept. 2007. Review the projects goals, activities, status, core elements, gains and challenges, and steps to moving forward.

Service Documentation Workshop

Developed through Oregon's 2004 Real Choice Grant, Integrating Long-Term Supports with Affordable Housing, this presentation is part of an interactive workshop with mental health staff to address issues and barriers surrounding the documentation of service delivery in community and in-home settings. The workshop covers how services are reimbursed through Medicaid, delineates the requirements that must be met for service documentation, and also allows time for group participation and practice.

Annual Report on the Federal Work Force: Fiscal Year 2006

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has released it annual report covering the period from Oct 1, 2005-Sept 30, 2006 and contains selected measures of agencies’ progress toward model equal employment opportunity programs, including workforce profiles of 59 federal agencies. The report finds that the participation rate for individuals with targeted disabilities (such as deafness, blindness, paralysis, intellectual disabilities, and mental illness) continues to fall.

National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices Website

NREPP (www.nrepp.samhsa.gov) is a searchable online registry of mental health and substance abuse interventions that have been reviewed and rated by independent experts. The registry assists local organizations in identifying interventions that have been scientifically tested and can be readily disseminated to the field. Organizations can search for interventions that fit the needs of their communities.

Medicaid HCBS Waiver Expenditures FY 2001 through FY 2006

This memorandum and tables present data on Medicaid 1915(c) Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver expenditures from Federal Fiscal Years 2001 through 2006. Each HCBS waiver is classified by population served in order to show the distribution of HCBS waiver expenditures across long term care populations. This year's memo also identifies which waivers exclusively serve children.

CMS State Medicaid Directors Letter: Using Peer Support Services Under Medicaid

This letter provides guidance to States and discusses policy issues related to peer support and notes that States are increasingly interested in covering peer support providers as a distinct type for the delivery of counseling and other support services. The letter (SMDL #07-011) provides policy guidance on requirements for supervision, care-coordination, and minimum training criteria of peer support providers.

Working with Disability - Medicaid Expenditures In Brief

To assist the CMS in monitoring the Medicaid Buy-In program, Mathematica has developed a series reports and policy briefs that present quantitative measures of participation in the program. For both the issue briefs and the statistical profile, researchers built a new longitudinal person-level database on Buy-In participants that contains information provided by the states as well as data from the SSI and SSDI programs and from Medicaid and Medicare programs.

Personal Assistance Services for Individuals with Serious Psychiatric Disabilities: Training Curriculum

This curriculum to train personal assistants has two elements: a competency or skill development component and a didactic or knowledge development component. The skill development components include Connecting, Coaching, Collaboration, and Managing Crises. The knowledge development component is a web-bases curriculum entitled Personal Assistance Services for Individuals with Serious Psychiatric Disabilities.

Foundations in Behavioral Healthcare: Integrating approaches to planning effective interventions for adults with mental illness, substance use disorders and cognitive impairments living in public housing - A Training Curriculum

This trainings series was developed in the Fall of 2006 by DATA of Rhode Island. The goals are to provide a foundation of behavioral health care knowledge and skills for human service workers who work with adults with a range of disabilities, with an ultimate goal of human service workers helping to affect better outcomes for the persons they serve. Each of the 14 training seminar ranges in duration from 3-6 hours. Review each training curriculum module which contains the outline and slides.
