The CMS Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office (MMCO) regularly reports data on Medicare-Medicaid enrollee demographics, service utilization, spending, and other characteristics that can give states a more comprehensive view of this population. This tool shows states how to use these data to create tables, graphs, and figures and interpret their meaning for a wider audience of stakeholders.

Ensuring Beneficiary Health and Safety in Group Homes Through State Implementation of Comprehensive Compliance Oversight

The Administration for Community Living (ACL), joined the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the HHS Office of Civil Rights to produce a report on ensuring beneficiary health and safety in group homes through state implementation of comprehensive compliance oversight. This report serves as a resource for states to use as a part of efforts to ensure that all group homes are safe and healthy places for people with disabilities.

Medicaid: CMS Should Take Additional Steps to Improve Assessments of Individuals’ Needs for Home- and Community-Based Services

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) examined states’ needs assessment processes for provision of long-term services and supports. GAO studied six states that differed in the following ways: assessment tools in use, participation in federal initiatives, HCBS delivery systems, and geographic location. GAO also reviewed federal requirements and documents and interviewed CMS officials and stakeholders.

State Employee Health Plans Can Be Leaders and Drivers of Value-Based Initiatives

This report discusses how state employee health plans are a vehicle that states can use for improving their health care system and moving the commercial market forward on value-based reforms. Currently, in 18 states, state employee plans cover over 10% of the commercial market. State employee health plans have seen success with reference pricing, limited networks, tiering, bundles, and accountable care models.

Residential Information Systems Project Annual Report: Status and Trends Through 2015

This is a technical report about the supports and services that people with IDD receive through the State IDD agency. In addition to the report, there are state profiles, which describe status and trends for each state in the country, and a chart gallery, which is an interactive tool to view detailed data by state, year, and funding authority. Topics include ICF/IID and Medicaid Waiver recipients, expenditures and expenditures per person from 1977 to 2015.
