This webcast focused on forms of abuse/violence/sexual assault against women and men with disabilities, barriers that get in the way of reporting abuse, and strategies that women and men with disabilities believe are important for enhancing their safety. Survey information, gathered directly from individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities as well as victims of domestic violence, disability organizations and criminal justice agencies, was shared with participants.

The Participant Experience Surveys (PES) is an interview tool developed by MEDSTAT under a contract from CMS. The surveys capture data that can be used to calculate indicators for monitoring quality within the waiver prograns. Two versions of the PES are included, one for frail elderly and adults with physical disabilities and another for adults with MR/DD. A Users' Guide accompanies each PES. Each survey can be conducted in a face-to-face interview in 30 minutes or less.

AR-GetCare is Arkansas’ statewide listing of services for older adults and people with disabilities. AR-GetCare is designed to help you locate resources that may assist you or a family member to continue living at home or in your community. The Website’s Self-Assessment Tool can help you clarify your own needs or those of a loved one.

The mission of the Vermont Agency of Human Services is to promote the highest level of independence for all individuals regardless of disability or disorder. This program provides home- and community-based services to people who are elderly and to adults with disabilities as a cost-effective alternative to living in a nursing home. DHS employees provide case management services. Services are available across the state; however, the average length of time on the interest list varies by where you live.

The University of California & San Francisco’s Center for Personal Assistance Services provides research, training, dissemination & technical assistance. The center, which was created with the help of a grant from the National Institute for Disability and Rehabilitation Research, toffers number of useful resources, including materials about the direct-care workforce and a well-stocked library of publications on issues relating to personal assistance services.

The Commission on Quality of Care for the Mentally Disabled in New York serves people with mental disabilities and their families by providing independent oversight of the quality and cost-effectiveness of services provided by all mental hygiene programs in New York State.
