New National Caregiver Champion Collaborative Opportunity

USAging invites Aging Network providers and partners who are responsible for the administration of caregiver services and supports to register to join the National Caregiver Champion Collaborative (CCC). With a purpose of facilitating and supporting peer networking and engagement for those leading caregiving services and supports, participants will gather regularly in an affinity group model to share successful strategies and best practices, discuss lessons learned, explore new partnerships, and get insight into the latest research and emerging evidence-based programs. The RAISE Family Caregiving Advisory Council

The RAISE Family Cargiving Advisory Council has released its RAISE Act Report to Congress on September 22, 2021. Emory University Researchers Seek LGBTQ Caregivers

Researchers at Emory University Goizueta Alzheimer's Disease Research Center are seeking participants for a study on LGBTQ caregivers. The project is intended to help develop a caregiver training program that addresses the obstacles these caregivers face in caring for people with Dementia. The center is seeking individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, are 18 or older, and consider themselves a primary caregiver to complete a 60 minute questionnaire.

HHS Could Enhance Support for Grandparents and Other Relative Caregivers

This report analyzes the challenges grandparents and older relatives face as primary caregivers. The report outlines the numbers of grandparent and older relative caregivers, and the reasons for this care. It also examines how HHS supports state efforts to use federal programs and initiatives to assist these caregivers. GAO concludes the report by making recommendations for how HHS could improve the sharing of information and best practices about older caregivers with states.

Valuing the Invaluable: 2019 Update Charting a Path Forward

From Caregiver to Caregiver: The Wisdom and Insights of Former NFCSP Caregivers

ACL undertook a two-part evaluation of the Older Americans Act Title III-E National Family Caregiver Support Program (NFCSP) between 2013 and 2018. ACL conducted a small, retrospective study of caregivers in the Outcome Evaluation whose care recipient passed away during the course of the outcome evaluation. This supplementary study gathered information on the service components and needs of bereaved caregivers and highlights “advice from caregivers to caregivers.”

From Research to Standard Practice: Advancing Proven Programs to Support Family Caregivers of Persons Living with Dementia

This report discusses what is known about effective programs to support family caregivers and emphasizes evidence-based programs for family caregivers of persons living with dementia. Evidence-based programs to help caregiving families are not widely available in communities. This report looks at barriers to scaling up effective programs and draws attention to programs that have been shown to improve one or more aspects of the quality of life of family caregivers.
