AAA National Survey Chartbook Now Available

USAging has released the AAA National Survey Chartbook for 2022, funded by the U.S. Administration for Community Living, offering comprehensive insights into how Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) address housing, social engagement, and health equity needs among older adults. This triennial survey provides crucial data on trends, workforce, funding, partnerships, and service adaptations within the Aging Network. Additionally, USAging offers a Chartbook Toolkit, including state-level reports, data briefs, sample communication materials, and presentation slides, empowering AAAs to benchmark their services, advocate for funding, and share their impact on older adults' well-being.

Fact Sheet: Highlights of HUD’s Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule

Justice in Aging has published a fact sheet aimed at aging and disability advocates, providing an overview of the US Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) proposed rule on the Fair Housing Act's (FHA's) Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) mandate. The fact sheet summarizes the proposed rule's key features, which include setting out obligations for HUD grantees to identify and address fair housing issues in their communities. Advocates can provide input on the proposed rule until April 24, 2023.

Biden Administration Announces Funding Opportunity to Address Unsheltered Homelessness

On June 22, 2022 The Biden Administration through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development released a first-of-its-kind package of resources to address unsheltered homelessness and homeless encampments, including funds specifically to address homelessness in rural communities. The $365 million package includes grant funds and vouchers that will enhance communities’ capacity to address unsheltered homelessness by connecting vulnerable individuals and families to housing, health care, and supportive services. This initiative promotes partnerships with health care organizations, public housing authorities and mainstream housing providers, and people with lived experience and expertise of homelessness.

August 2021 Livable Communities Newsletter

The Florida Department of Elder Affairs released their August 2021 newsletter highlighting Miami-Dade County's Age-Friendly Initaitive. The county's Age-Friendly Initiative was launched in 2012 and has grown into a collaborative network of individuals, stakeholders, and organizations working together to bring housing, transportation, employment and health services to their older adult population.

Innovations from the Field: How Area Agencies on Aging and Title VI Programs Address Brain Health
