Nonfatal Assaults and Homicides Among Adults Aged ≥60 Years — United States, 2002–2016

              This report was published as part of the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. It examines the rate of violence against adults aged sixty and over using fifteen years of data on assaults and homicides. The results indicate that during this time frame, the nonfatal assault rate has jumped significantly, especially among older men. The homicide rate for older men also increased.This study demonstrates the need for improved violence prevention efforts among older adults.
