Employer Survey Report - Vermont

Assessing customer satisfaction, awareness and interest in VR services among the broader business community is important when determining the success of a MIG program. Vermont’s Division of Vocational Rehabilitation conducted an employer survey to address these questions. The draft of the report, and a PowerPoint presentation outlining the results of the survey are provided and could be helpful to other MIG states looking into accessing their programs.

A Preliminary Analysis of VA-DRS 1988 - Virginia

What are the long term effects of MIG programs on wages? The state of Virginia evaluated the long-term impact of Vocational Rehabilitative (VR) services on employment, earnings and services provisions. Preliminary findings indicate that VR services have a substantial positive impact on future employment probabilities but very little impact on wages. A sample of this data-filled report is attached, and could be helpful to other states conducting similar studies.

In-Home Supportive Services Program: Considering the State Costs and Benefits

What is the net fiscal impact of the IHSS Program on the public sector? The program, which is available to low-income elderly and disabled persons, provides services to recipients in their own homes and can enhance quality of life by making it easier to live at home. This report concludes that the state maximizes its net fiscal impact by targeting IHSS services to those recipients who are most likely to enter a nursing home in the absence of the program.

Supporting and Encouraging Employment – Washington

How successful is Washington State's MIG program? A study found that Healthcare for Workers with Disabilities (HWD) program participants were more likely to be employed, had higher earnings and more stable Medicaid coverage, and relied less on the Basic Food program in the year following enrollment than very similar people covered by conventional Medicaid. For more details, read the attached MBI Evaluation Report, which could also be helpful to other states with MIG grants.

Lodging and Restaurant Accessibility Survey - Wyoming

How are states addressing the needs of travelers with disabilities? The Wyoming Institute for Disabilities conducted a survey of lodging facilities and restaurants throughout Wyoming. The goal was to assess the accommodations available to travelers with disabilities, develop a profile of general availability, and create a distributable, print-ready guidebook. The final report, including the survey and guidebook, is provided and could be useful to other MIG grantees.

Health Risk Assessment Process - Pennsylvania

Examine the results of health assessments of 584 people receiving services from the PA Office of Mental Retardation. The information represents a portion of the data obtained through the Health Risk Assessment process, which began as an initiative to gather health care information on people who had moved, or were in the process of moving, from state operated facilities to community settings. A number of recommendations for improvement are discussed.
