The Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) released an updated version of their "Medicaid Enrollment and Unwinding Tracker" on June 20th. This tracker provides state-level data on Medicaid/CHIP enrollment, unwinding, renewals, and other measures. National Health Expenditure Projections, 2022–31: Growth To Stabilize Once The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Ends

As reported in the June 14 Health Affairs article, “National Health Expenditure Projections, 2022–31: Growth To Stabilize Once The COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Ends”, healthcare spending is projected to grow 5.4 percent per year, on average, between 2022 and 2031. Growth in Medicare spending is expected to be 8.0 percent in 2023, with Medicare hospital spending growth anticipated at 11 percent this year due to an increase in volume and intensity growth. Improving the Health and Well-Being of Sexual and Gender Minority Older Adults

Millions of older adults in the United States classify as sexual and gender minority (SGM). The Aging with Pride initiative is a National Health, Aging, and Sexuality/Gender Study which is funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), involving more than 2,400 older adults ranging in age from 50 to more than 100 years old. SGM adults experience prejudice, bias, or discrimination which can be a significant source of stress. These negative life exposures can also affect aging and health and contribute to health disparities in SGM adults. Ultimately, the goal of this Aging in Pride study is to better understand the health, aging, and well-being of SGM adults in midlife and older age.

CMS Releases Latest Enrollment Figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

On Tuesday, May 30, CMS released the latest enrollment figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. As of February 2023, over 65.6 million people are enrolled in Medicare; nearly 34 million are enrolled in fee-for-service Medicare and more than 31.6 have a Medicare Advantage plan. Over 93.3 million enrollees have Medicaid and CHIP; more than 86.1 million individuals have Medicaid and nearly 7.2 million have coverage through CHIP. Over 12 million individuals are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid and are counted in the enrollment figures for both programs.

CMS Releases Latest Enrollment Figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program

On Tuesday, March 28th, CMS released the latest enrollment figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. As of December 2022, over 65.2 million people are enrolled in Medicare; more than 35 million are enrolled in fee-for-service Medicare and over 30.2 have a Medicare Advantage plan. Over 91.3 million enrollees have Medicaid and CHIP; more than 84.3 million individuals have Medicaid and over seven million have coverage through CHIP. Over 12 million individuals are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid and are counted in the enrollment figures for both programs.
