In this report, the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) traces the budget issues that states confronted in 2002 and examines how they addressed those issues. The report also describes long-term care legislation enacted in 2002 and long-term care planning work that is under way in many states.

This comprehensive report examines current regulations and Medicaid reimbursement policies for assisted living facilities in each of the 50 states. The report includes detailed comparisons of state policy and a summary of each state's assisted living regulations.

On July 16 and 17, 2003, representatives from a diverse assortment of states came together in Denver, Colorado, to share information, learn from one another and explore ways to help each other achieve an important, mutual goal: to build better and stronger communitiesin which people with disabilities are readily and routinely part of the fabric of everyday life. This is a report on that discussion.

These slides were presented at the 2nd Annual Training Institute for State Mental Health Olmstead Coordinators (9/30/2002 - 10/2/2002). They provide a brief overview of the FY01 and FY02 Systems Change Grants, including charts depicting which states are focusing their efforts in areas such as housing, mental health, nursing facility transition, etc.

Information for each state includes: the name of the grantee organization, the title of the grant, the type of grant, the amount awarded and fiscal year awarded, the primary contacts for each grant, the target populations to be served under the grant, the primary goals and activities of each grant project, and a brief description of the grant activities.

State legislatures continue to face the challenges presented by the Supreme Court's 1999 ruling in L.C. & E.W. v. Olmstead. These briefings report on the measures undertaken in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia in dealing with this critical issue.
