As Florida creates new Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) initiatives, the state has developed a number of Memorandums of Understandings (MOUs). A copy of the state, regional and local level agreements is attached. The purpose of the Memorandum of Agreement is to set forth the roles and responsibilities of each party in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of the ADRC.

The ADRC in La Cross County, Wisconsin, is using this advertisement to inform the community about the ADRC program. Their Resource Center provides information and assistance by telephone 24 hours per day, including weekends and holidays.

The Minnesota ADRC utilizes the following two screening tools to assess the long term care needs of individuals and persons with developmental disabilities. Questions include general information, an assessment section, history and professional conclusions.

A team of staff has been working to update and improve all Medicaid waiver data on the National Association of State Medicaid Directors (NASMD) website. The intent is to create a comprehensive, up-to-date resource that would be useful to a broad audience. The updated waivers website now contains summary information on all 1915(b), 1915(c), 1915(b/c) combination, 1115 and PACE waivers in clear, readable spreadsheets. The web site also provides textual information describing each type of waiver.

The following summary and white paper outline the accomplishments of Oregon's FY 2001 Real Choice Systems Change Grant. Their white paper held nine recommendations for the transformation of mental health services here in Oregon. The RCSC Consumer/Survivor Task force and other consumers/survivors have also asked that legislation be drafted that directs the Department of Human Services to develop a policy that promotes self-determination. SB 771 and HB3108 are the results of our efforts.

Self-Direction and Its Relationship to Mental Health-Principles: Tools of Self-Direction. 2. Models of Self-Direction in Mental Health: What's out there? 3. Self-Direction in Mental Health-From Ideas to Action: Funding Self-Directed Care in Mental Health and Helping People Make It Happen. Materials include presentation slides, resource links and discussion questions.

Facts about fast track, presumptive and expedited eligibility. Includes information about how can states implement it, who pays when mistakes are made and which states expedite the financial eligibility decision. Fast track and presumptive eligibility are two ways to expedite a person’s financial application for Medicaid.

Louisiana’s Department of Health and Hospitals is currently advertising for a Director to lead its newly created unit for Aging/Adult Long Term Care services. Creation of this unit is part of an exciting, larger effort to reform how the state delivers long term supports and services to older adults and people with disabilities. The deadline to apply for this position is August 6th.
