Profiles Of “Best Practices” Employed In Nursing Homes And Home And Community-Based Settings – Website

Practices featured in the profiles on PHI’s resource website are based on care organizations throughout the country and exemplify their “quality care through quality jobs” philosophy. For most of the organizations, the improved job quality can be directly linked to higher recruitment and retention among direct-care staff. Important elements of the practice, measurable outcomes, and lessons learned are discussed.

Hiring Relatives as Caregivers in Two States: Developing an Education and Research Agenda for Policy Makers – Journal Abstract

Hiring relatives as caregivers remains a controversial policy issue. This two-state case study reports findings about views from policy experts regarding a policy option to hire family caregivers in HCBS long-term care programs. Policy makers also discussed information needed by other states considering this option and effective approaches to disseminate findings about this option from the Cash & Counseling Demonstration Evaluation.

Lessons Learned From Rural Job Development - Alaska

It states that, especially in rural communities, self employment, or creating your own job, makes the most sense. Strategic Plans for Supported Employment and Proposed Funding - Alaska

Alaska's Supported Employment Task Force has created a Strategic Action Plan for increasing the number of people with developmental disabilities receiving supported employment services and how to most effectively shape protocol to assist employees and employers. Attached are a proposed funding matrix and a strategic action plan for employment services for individuals with behavioral health disabilities. These sample documents may be useful for other states implementing similar programs.

Money Follows the Person Website - North Carolina

The North Carolina MFP demonstration project assists Medicaid-eligible individuals who live in inpatient facilities to move into their own homes and communities, and to help identify and address barriers to receiving quality, community-based care.
