Studying the Unmet Needs of Adults with Disabilities in Massachusetts, 2007

Two studies examine the need for HCBS services and the economic profiles of adults with disabilities in MA. The main study examines the unmet needs of adults age 18-59 with disabilities, and the caregiver study focuses on the perspective of informal caregivers, i.e., their unmet needs and those of the people for whom they provide care. A detailed description of the survey methodology and exact criteria for selection into the study is included, as well as copies of the surveys.

Trends in Disability, Community Living, and Caregiving: Analysis of Data from the National Long-Term Care Survey

Disability rates among older Americans have declined, and the ways in which community-dwelling older people with disabilities managed their conditions have substantially changed over the 20 years covered by this survey. Among those receiving human assistance, the vast majority were helped by family caregivers, who are increasingly taking full responsibility for providing care. Medicaid Infrastructure Grants: Impacts and Outcomes
