Communities of Power is a source of information about issues of importance in Michigan's Disability Community and maintained by the Michigan Disability Rights Coalition (MDRC). MDRC works to build opportunities for people with disabilities so they may live fully integrated lives within their chosen communities, now and in the future. Full citizenship is the expected role that people with disabilities will play, and their hopes and dreams parallel those of citizens without disabilities.

The Center for Housing and New Community Economics (CHANCE) mission is to improve and increase access to integrated, affordable, and accessible housing coordinated with, but separate from, personal assistance and supportive services. CHANCE's purpose is to offer alternatives to approaches that segregate, congregate, and control people with disabilities.

This website is part of a national initiative funded by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to increase opportunities for older consumers to direct their own care. Consumer Direction describes programs and services where people are given maximum choice and control over their care. When people say they want to be \"independent\" or they want \"autonomy\" or \"self-direction,\" they are talking about consumer direction. DDS is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities. These disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions.
