CMS recently released a 2017 update to its 2012 MLTSS inventory, compiled by Truven Health Analytics. This study reviewed available information about the status of Medicaid MLTSS programs, and provides updates on the prevalence of MLTSS programs, total enrollment, and specific program design elements as of August 2017. The report surveys the landscape of MLTSS programs across the country, provides detailed summaries of each MLTSS program, and identifies national trends.

These two resources produced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) are for users of the CAHPS® Home and Community-Based Services Survey (also known as the HCBS CAHPS Survey). These resources are intended to support states, managed care organizations, survey administrators, and data analysts.

This report presents the findings and conclusions of this national evaluation of the MFP demonstration. The MFP Rebalancing Demonstration program launched more than nine years ago. There are 44 grantee states, and as of the end of calendar year 2015, grantee states had transitioned a total of 63,337 Medicaid beneficiaries from long-term institutional care to community residences and home and community-based LTSS.

In the Fall of 2014, the Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS) conducted a Nationwide Adult Medicaid Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey. The survey interviewed a representative sample of adults ages 18 and older enrolled in Medicaid between October 2013 through December 2013. This survey provides baseline information on the experiences of low-income adults prior to a state’s expansion of coverage to the new adult group that took effect on 1/1/2014.

This letter from CMS is about how they will offer additional flexibilities to help states improve access to and quality of substance use disorder treatment through Medicaid 1115 demonstrations. This report from Truven Health Analytics describes section 1915(c) home and community based services waiver programs. Over 1.6 million people received section 1915(c) waiver services in 2014; this is a 5 percent increase from 1.5 million in 2013. Furthermore, the number of section 1915(c) waiver participants has increased by an average of 4 percent per year since 2009. Participants received services for an average of 10 months in 2014, as in previous years.

This report provides information about Medicaid LTSS beneficiaries in 2013. The report estimates that approximately 5.2 million people received Medicaid-funded long-term services and supports (LTSS) during calendar year 2013. This data includes state-reported estimates for managed LTSS programs. 72 percent of LTSS beneficiaries received home and community-based services (HCBS), including people who received institutional services during the year.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released their monthly report for November 2016 on Medicaid and CHIP application, eligibility determination, and enrollment data. States provide data to CMS on factors related to key application, eligibility, and enrollment processes using the Medicaid and CHIP Performance Indicator Project. The data is then used to inform CMS on the operations of the programs in each state and to share state performance data publicly.
