Physical Disabilities

The West Virginia Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (WVCDHH) serves as a communication bridge between hearing persons and those who are deaf or hard of hearing. The Commission works toward an environment in which deaf or hard of hearing West Virginians of all ages have an equal opportunity to participate fully as active, responsible, productive and independent citizens of the state.

The DHHR administers programs that benefit the citizens of West Virginia including: AIDS Program, Birth To Three, Children's Health Insurance (WVCHIP), Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), Family Planning, Immunization Program, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

The mission of the Vermont Agency of Human Services is to promote the highest level of independence for all individuals regardless of disability or disorder. The Department of Human Services offers programs working with the elderly, substance abusers, people with disabilities, abused children, young offenders, the mentally ill, people who need assistance obtaining child support and others.

This program provides home- and community-based services to people who are elderly and to adults with disabilities as a cost-effective alternative to living in a nursing home. DHS employees provide case management services. Services are available across the state; however, the average length of time on the interest list varies by where you live.
