The National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care (Consumer Voice) recently published a survey report on the impact of understaffing on nursing home residents in 2024. The findings highlight substantial challenges faced by residents, with 88% reporting they do not have adequate staffing in their facilities to meet the care needs of all residents. This report spotlights how understaffing can lead to daily struggles for residents, including delayed care, missed activities, and medication issues. The report underscores the pressing need to address staffing deficiencies to ensure quality, person-centered care in nursing homes.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently launched the Value-Based Care Spotlight, a new website that aims to enhance understanding of value-based care (VBC) as a cornerstone of transforming health care with helpful information for both the public and health care providers. In value-based care, doctors and other health care providers work together to manage a person's overall health, while considering an individual's personal health goals. Value-Based Care Spotlight features Patient & Provider Voices, real-world stories that show the meaningful impact of VBC, as well as descriptions of key concepts, such as person-centered care and Accountable Care.

The University of Southern California's Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work has posted a "Crisis Care for Adults With Cognitive Impairment" resource on their website. This webpage includes a list of the types of cognitive impairment, a guide to person-centered care for adults with cognitive impairment and strategies for health care providers. The Center on Aging and Trauma of The Jewish Federations of North America’s Holocaust Survivor Initiative, invites organizations to participate in a national survey on PCTI Care. This ACL grantee is working to build the capacity of aging service providers to provide PCTI care to older adults with a history of trauma as well as their family caregivers. They are conducting this survey to collect information on the current capacity of organizations to provide this type of care.

The Patient Centered Medical Home Network of The John A. Hartford Foundation Change AGEnts Initiative released a new paper titled, "Patient-Centered Medical Homes and the Care of Older Adults: How comprehensive care coordination, community connections, and person-directed care can make a difference.”
